SGUP has been given priority for people-centred, culturally sensitive and ecologically balanced sustainable development process in villages and focussed on strengthening of people’s organisation, livelihood enhancement, Natural Resource Management, Gender mainstreaming and Right based activities.
Our Interventions

— Natural Resource Development
SGUP has been taking lots of programmes for Natural Resource management and livelihood promotion in harmony with nature. It is a major goal of the Organisation to conserve and manage the Natural Resources around the village to provide a sustainable livelihood opportunity to the Community.
SGUP has taken two major activities for Natural Resource Management of the area. One is WADI – an Orchard based livelihood programme and another is Ama Jangala Yojana – Forest Protection and livelihood promotion through participatory management of natural forest.

— Livelihood Development
Livelihood is the core objective of all developmental initiatives of SGUP and the organisation gives importance to enhance the income, food, and nutrition and livelihood security of the community through its programmes. SGUP has been developed agricultural based, Orchard based and forest based livelihoods through its programmes and provided support to landless and poor families for income generation through cattle rearing, small business, poultry and other vocational trades. The Organisation also developed the capacity of the unemployed youth and SHG members for income generation activities.

— Village based Institution Building
SGUP has promoted and strengthen village level organisations to ensure a participatory community development process in village level. Through this process the organisation has organised, created awareness, built capacity and given exposure to the villagers for active participation in village development planning and execution, raising demands in government level, participating in Panchayatiraj and management of natural resources for sustainable livelihood.

— Gender Mainstreaming
SGUP has been given importance on gender justice and gender mainstreaming in all its approach and work. It has been given priorities to strengthen women socially, politically and economically, so that they could come forward and participate in all decision making process of villages.
SGUP has promoted above 200 women SHGs in village level.
The Organisation has trained the women for micro credit, savings, income generation activities, Processing, marketing and cooperative management
The Organisation has given leadership training and oriented them on different women right
The Organisation has formed block level women federation for advocating the gender issues
05.
— Youth Mobilization for community development
To incorporate the village youth mass in to development process, SGUP has promoted village level youth organisations and organised them to participate in village development activities, village harmony, promotion of village sports and games and provided different vocational and skill development training for better livelihood.
06.
— Rural Entrepreneurship
The SHGs are engaged in saving and micro credit activities
The Organisation has strengthen their capacity by giving different trainings and exposure
After taking skill development trainings and getting fund support from banks SHGs are engaged in enterprises like bamboo craft production, vegetable business, grocery shop, tailoring shop, food processing units, turmeric and vegetable cultivation, goat rearing, poultry and small business in groups and as individual.
This process has not only increased the family income but also empowered the women, enhanced their knowledge and level of awareness leading to increase in the standard of living.
To provide easy and reliable market access for SHG products, to encourage rural entrepreneurship and to enhance marketing skill among the rural people the organisation has linked them with rural marketing.

— Sustainable Agriculture
The Organisation has promoted sustainable agriculture practice among farmers for strengthening farmer’s independency on agriculture
The Organisation has encouraged the farmers for practicing organic agriculture, trained them to prepare bio – fertilizer and Bio- pesticides and encouraged them to conserve the seed diversity and crop diversity in fields
The Organisation has supported the farmers to increase their production through SRI cultivation, Line sowing, mixed cropping practice
08.
— Health
SGUP has been giving importance on health and hygienic development of community and implementing different programmes on health in villages. It has organised regular health camps in villages and provided health check up facility and medicine support to villagers. The Organisation has organised awareness camps on mother and child care, care of old age and disable persons, malaria prevention and HIV Aids in villages. It has given support hand to village health workers to motivate the pregnant for medical delivery. To aware the villagers on food and nutrition the organisation has organised village level food festivals and food preparation competition among women.
